I was introduced to Rok One through a mutual friend who thought our musical tastes and party rocking styles would match. Rok had a vision to put together a trio of dj's and form a collective. It was then that he introduced me to Dj Jaclyn and The Bangers were formed. We all had origins in hip hop, Rok as a lyricist with releases on Fondle 'Em, Jackie as a Fat Beats alum and myself as a long running hip hop dj with a decade of residencies under my belt. At this point in our respective careers we brought different styles to the table. Rok was a monster with all things 80's, Jackie was tied into the downtown rock disco scene and I was connected to the rock and soul that was the foundation of the hip hop I loved. While we each brought our own point of view to our sets, we influenced each other as one would expect.

The Bangathon includes tracks from the The Mashacre, some unpublished mash-ups, and a gang of relatively deep party jams from several genres and eras. The mix was composed in Acid and was the first time I had used a DAW to create a mixtape. Every mixtape prior to The Bangathon was recorded live directly onto tape/adat/hdd. This style of quick flipping tracks and jumping between genres is fairly customary now but back then it wasn't customary.
